Much like the Magi bringing gift to baby Jesus, many communities exchange presents on this day. In some cultures, children leave their shoes out on the eve of January 6th to find gifts or sweets left by the Three Kings.
A key tradition in many Hispanic cultures involves the preparation and sharing of a special sweet bread or cake known as Rosca de Reyes or King's Cake. This pastry often contains a hidden figurine representing the baby Jesus. The person who finds this figurine in their slice is responsible for hosting a gathering or providing tamales on Candlemas Day (Dia de la Candelaria) in February.
